January Lowrey Happenings

???
Is it a blogging sin to blog more than once in a day? Well, since I have never stuck to any mold, I will do what I do and do what I want J I much to say about nothing, but I will do it anyway.

I decided that I am going to recap January 2014. Moving forward when I fall into my inconsistence I will recap whatever time I missed… Its only fair, right?

So January, I’m going to have to grab my brain (calendar) for this. Looking through the month, it doesn’t look like a lot went down, I guess it had more pop ups then usual. We rang in the New Year here at the house with a few friends. Nothing crazy, no traveling this year and no sickness which is a first in a couple of years.
Levi played The Joint in Las Vegas and I was able to join him last minute. We had a really great time! Didn’t see much else besides the Hard Rock where we stayed. We did venture over to Mandalay Bay, where, don’t laugh, I officially gambled for the first time (and lost) and Levi won. While there we went to a club and I danced my brains out! Not Levi of course, but he was a good sport and hung out anyway. Though if you could have seen his face, he was not into it.
We filmed Levi and Clay do a wing challenge at Wild Wings. Levi clearly won, but we’ll let Clay have it this time.
Vegas was fun, but there is no need for me to go back. I wasn’t really interested.

We announced the Clay vs. Levi tour. The East Coast will be rocking with these guys in April. Jealous? The tour starts in New Hampshire and ends in Atlanta. You can check dates and get tickets at www.levilowrey.com

We all got that nasty stomach bug going around…
We got a new puppy. He’s mainly German Shepard with a little something more, but not sure what he is mixed with yet. He is peeing all over the place. I wanted him. I suppose this is what I get. I know he’ll grow out it, he’s still learning.

Then we got snow! FINALLY! We went out and played in it twice. That’s enough snow for me. I’m good till next year or so.

I also decided to seriously pursue this oil business. Since they keep blowing my mind and I have seen daily what they can do, why not share with others what they can do and that we have Better alternatives?! My body has been through the ringer and I have used modern medicine and have many long term side effects that will never go away. Why not pursue a better way to help myself and my family and maybe make a little money at doing it? I have two goals with these earnings, one to pay for my oils addiction and two to feed my traveling budget so I can get on the road with Levi more and maybe to dive too.  So, if you feel so inclined to know more about oils or ask me. FRANKINCENSE

Boswellia frereana
My favorite oil that I use daily is Frankincense. At first, I didn't like it so much. But the more I read about it the more I really enjoyed it and got over the woodsy scent that I didn't like. Now, it helps me get through my days. I rub two drops on my back and chest. Keeps me calm in the midst of the chaos.
My newest success story, which lead me to write this post… When I went through treatments in 2011/2012 I had to get shots that stimulated my bone morrow to produce white blood cells. For me it was one of the most excuricating pains I have had to endure, far worse then having a baby. Imagine an ice pick, picking at your bones. That kind of pain. Anyway, I don't have that pain to that extent anymore, but I do have a lingering dull pain from head to toe every so often. I have been feeling it the last couple of days and I woke up at 3am in extensive pain from head to toe. I couldn't just lather my entire body ( well I could but that would have been a lot of oil) I grabbed my iPad and started searching for a remedy that was a like an ibuprofen. I found one, but didn't have all the oils it called for, but I found a liquid morphine. I was desperate so I made it. 6 drops of Frankincense and 6 drops of Oregano. I laid back down and was skimming through Pinterest and no joke within 3 minutes I wasn't hurting anymore. These oils still blow my mind.

History

Frankincense has been a part of religious ceremony and used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years.  One of the oldest medical documents known to man dating back to 1500 BC recorded the use of Frankincense oil by physicians and priests alike for the treatment of disease and illness. In the Holy Bible the reference to Frankincense brought by the three wise men to the baby Jesus attests to the value placed on this oil.  It was of great value then and even now the difficulty in sourcing makes it one of the more expensive essential oils.  Gum resin from trees in Oman, India, Somalia and Yemen and other areas of North Africa yeild much of the worlds Frankincense. DōTerra Frankincense comes from the country of Oman, the family is Burseraceae, and the oil is steam distilled from the resin tears extracted from the tree.

Typical Application

Ancient ritual usage and modern research confirm that Frankincense has relaxing effects on the human body including uplifting mood and heightening awareness.  These antidepressant properties can be achieved through various diffusion techniques and topical application including various forms of massage.  This oil is also well suited to help with skin conditions.  It is a mild oil that in most instances can be applied directly, if necessary.  Help with acne to wrinkles, cuts and wounds to reducing scarring are all mentioned by those that have used this essential oil.  Most practical for skin application is to make a 1% to 2% dilution with a carrier oil or a similar dilution in an ointment.
